1. Introduction
Welcome to SheRyde Proprietary Limited (“SheRyde”). These Terms & Conditions
(“Terms”) govern your use of our mobile application and related services (“the
Platform”). By creating an account, accessing the Platform, requesting a ride or
delivery, or offering services as a driver, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
SheRyde is a women-led, safety-first, inclusive mobility and lifestyle transportation platform designed to offer safe, reliable and empowering transport for all users.
2. Our Service
2.1 SheRyde provides a technology platform that connects riders and independent drivers for:
• Passenger transport.
• Goods transportation.
• Grocery and takeaway delivery.
• Parcel delivery.
• Errand services.
• Corporate transfers.
• School runs.
• Airport transfers.
• Estate and residential community transport.
2.2 SheRyde itself does not provide transport services. All transportation and delivery services are performed by independent contractor drivers.
3. SheRyde Identity & Brand Promise
3.1 Women-First, Fully Inclusive:
SheRyde is built around women’s safety and empowerment. Women riders may choose a women driver at no additional cost.
3.2 Safety-Centric Technology:
The Platform incorporates vigorous verification system, SAPS clearance requirements, NaTIS validation, panic button, GPS tracking, and verified profiles.
3.3 Driver Empowerment:
SheRyde promotes fair, transparent earnings and dignified working conditions
supported by technology and structured onboarding.
4. Service Categories
4.1 Ride-Hailing Tiers:
• SheRyde Lite (2 passengers)
• SheRyde Core (3 passengers)
• SheRyde Lux (3 passengers)
• SheRyde Elite (3 passengers)
• SheRyde Spacious (6 passengers)
• SheRyde Max (7 passengers)
4.2 Additional Services:
Goods delivery, food/grocery delivery, errands, school/corporate transfers, airport
transport, and residential estate mobility.
5. Eligibility
5.1 Riders: Must be 18+ with a valid payment method parental consent needed for
Children.
5.2 Drivers: Must hold:
• Valid SA Driver’s Licence
• PrDP
• Roadworthy vehicle
• Comprehensive insurance
• SAPS clearance
• PRE Operating Licence compliance where required
• Branding compliance
6. Platform Relationship
6.1 SheRyde offers a digital matching platform, not direct transport. Drivers are
independent contractors, responsible for their own licensing, taxes, vehicle
compliance and insurance.
6.2 SheRyde collaborates with strategic partners including the Gauteng E-hailing
Services Association (GES) for enhanced driver onboarding and safety alignment.
7. Payments & Pricing
7.1 Card-Only:
SheRyde operates a strictly cashless system all payments occur via card or secure pay links.
7.2 Fare Transparency:
The fare displayed before acceptance reflects distance, time, route, traffic, tolls and
dynamic pricing factors.
7.3 Receipts:
Digital receipts are automatically issued after each trip/delivery.
8. Cancellations & Refunds
8.1 Riders: Cancellation fees may apply per CPA-aligned guidelines.
8.2 Drivers: Frequent cancellations or non-fulfillment of accepted trips may result in
suspension or deactivation.
8.3 Refunds: Riders may dispute charges within 48 hours.
9. Rider Responsibilities
9.1 Verify the vehicle, number plate, and driver profile before boarding.
9.2 Keep GPS tracking and the panic button enabled.
9.3 Behave respectfully and comply with estate/complex rules where applicable.
9.4 Women riders may select women drivers based on availability.
10. Driver Vetting, Screening & Ongoing Requirements
10.1 Mandatory Safety Checks:
Drivers consent to and must maintain:
• SAPS criminal clearance
• AFISwitch (or equivalent) fingerprint checks
• ID & NaTIS vehicle validation
• Roadworthy certification
• Insurance suitable for passenger/goods transport
• Branding & presentation compliance
10.2 Annual Re-Checks:
SAPS, AFISwitch, insurance, licence and other credentials may be re-verified annually or upon reasonable safety concerns.
11. Sexual Offences Register (NRSO) Screening — Mandatory Driver Consent
11.1 By joining SheRyde, all drivers give explicit, informed and voluntary consent to screening against the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO), within the limits
permitted by South African law.
11.2 Screening may occur:
• at onboarding,
• annually, and
• at any time where safety concerns arise.
11.3 Drivers who appear on the NRSO, refuse screening, or withdraw consent will not be permitted to operate on the SheRyde platform.
11.4 All vetting information is processed and stored according to POPIA, confidentially and strictly for safety purposes.
12. Driver Conduct & Operational Standards
Drivers must:
• follow in-app navigation;
• keep GPS and safety tools active;
• comply with estate/complex rules;
• maintain professionalism;
• ensure their vehicle is clean, roadworthy and identifiable.
13. Goods & Delivery Terms
13.1 Prohibited items: illegal, dangerous, or improperly packaged goods.
13.2 Packaging: Senders must package items safely and accurately declare contents and value.
13.3 Verification: Drivers may require OTP, signature, ID or photo verification.
13.4 Liability: SheRyde bears no liability for goods except as required by law; high-value items should be insured.
14. Safety, Incidents & Emergency Response
14.1 The App provides real-time tracking, trip sharing, and panic button functionality.
14.2 Riders and drivers must report incidents promptly via the App.
14.3 SheRyde may suspend accounts during investigations.
15. Compliance & Licensing
15.1 SheRyde aligns with the National Land Transport Act (NLTA), PRE licensing
requirements, NPTR/Department of Transport registration, branding rules, municipal
regulations, and safety standards.
15.2 Drivers are individually responsible for maintaining all required licences, permits, and insurance.
16. Data Protection & Privacy (POPIA)
16.1 SheRyde processes personal data lawfully and responsibly, including identity,
contact, location, trip history, safety data and vetting results.
16.2 Vetting data (including NRSO, SAPS and AFISwitch results) is used solely for safety and compliance, stored securely and retained only as required.
17. Prohibited Conduct
Users may not:
• use the service for illegal activities;
• harass or threaten others;
• transport prohibited items;
• manipulate pricing;
• impersonate others;
• bypass the platform by accepting cash for platform trips;
• disable safety features.
18. Suspension & Termination
SheRyde may suspend or terminate any account for:
• safety concerns;
• positive matches on the NRSO or criminal registers;
• refusal of vetting;
• fraudulent activity;
• abusive behaviour;
• licensing/insurance failure;
• violation of these Terms.
Users may close their account anytime via the App.
19. Amendments
SheRyde may update these Terms periodically. Notice will be provided via the App or
email. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
20. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
